I asked my contact in Brazil at Semco (see earlier entry) for clarificaiton on their concept of growing bees in the sky. Here is his reply:

“Our ‘Apicultura Celeste’ which means (in a free translation) growing bees in the sky, was designed to create a forum for discussions where we could segregate operational issues from philosophical ones. The idea was to avoid contamination of discussions on values, ethics, strategies etc by the day to day operational issues. Therefore, by having those guidelines, we could stop deviations of main subjects under discussion on that particular forum - if it was an operational item it didn´t belong to that meeting."
