Olympic Torch - Chongqing

This week I had the privilege to carry the Olympic Torch in one of the largest cities in China – Chongqing. This is one of the largest populations near the quake zone, however there was no direct impact on the city.

Thousands of people lined the torch route, shouting enthusiastically as we passed. The city and the region needed something uplifting after what the country has experienced with the recent natural disasters – which continue as mud slides and floods take more lives.

Chongqing is not as well know as the coastal cities, but the growth of the region is incredible. These mega cities (the municipality of Chongqing has a registered population of +31 million) are going to have a major impact on all aspects of our lives in the years ahead.
